Lewandowski, who was born on August 21 in Warsaw, Poland, began his career at Legia Warsaw. He made his professional debut in the young teams at Znicz Pruszków in 2006, where he twice finished as the league’s top scorer.
No player in the history of the team has ever had such an immediate impact in terms of goals scored; his eight La Liga goals to this point have surpassed the previous high for the team at this point, which was the six goals scored by former Brazilian striker Romario.
He then transferred to Lech Poznan in the Polish first division, where he led the league in goals scored in 2009–2010. Lewandowski, who made his national team debut in 2008, currently holds the record for most goals scored by a Polish player with 76, much surpassing Wodzimierz Lubanski, who is in second place with 45.
Playing Style
What makes the all-time leading scorer for Bayern Munich so unique? Lewandowski has excellent aerial presence and is at ease shooting with either foot. He has used his right foot to score 123 of his Bundesliga goals, but he has also managed to use his left to score 36 times and nod in 24 goals with his head.
On occasion, the 30-year-old will even try his hand at long range. While he drove in from 25 yards for goal number two of his historic five-goal outburst against Wolfsburg in September 2015, his second Bundesliga goal for Bayern was a magnificent half-volley against Paderborn from just beyond the box.

He can combine with his attacking midfielders, hold up play, take on defenders, latch onto balls over the top, play on the ground or in the air – and score goals of all shapes and sizes, with both feet and his head. Lewandowski’s early Polish trainers were worried about his frail build and stumpy legs, which demonstrates how much he has improved physically. He spent many hours in the gym to increase his strength and get an edge on the field, earning the nickname “The Body” during his time with Dortmund.
