Qatar

The Qatar Football Association and AFC are in charge of the Qatar national football team, which plays for Qatar in international competition.

The team has competed in ten Asian Cup competitions, and in 2019 it claimed a single victory. Both Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium and Khalifa International Stadium serve as their home venues. The latter is regarded as the team’s home field .[5]

Since Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, they will automatically qualify for the championships, where they will make their debut. The competition will be hosted by an Arab country for the first time this year.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar, FIFA declared in December 2010.

They made it to the quarterfinals in 2011 while serving as the hosts of the Asian Cup. They lost to eventual champions Japan in overtime, 2-3, as Masahiko Inoha scored in the 89th minute.

They defeated Jordan 2-0 in the championship game and went on to win the 2014 WAFF Championship as hosts as well. The majority of the teams in the league were reserve and youth teams, with Qatar’s team being one of the latter.

Due to the senior squad’s success, Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of the B team, took over for Fahad Thani as the senior team’s head coach. Djamel Belmadi guided Qatar to victory in the 2014 Gulf Cup ten months later.

They won the final against Saudi Arabia, who were playing in front of their own fans, by a score of 2-1 after advancing from the group stages following three draws. They then defeated Oman 3-1 in the semifinal.

Qatar finished first in Group D of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup with 7 points. They earned their first point against Panama in their tournament debut, a 3-3 draw.

They then defeated Grenada and Honduras, winning 4-0 and 2-0 respectively, to advance to the quarterfinals, where they would play El Salvador. With a 3-2 victory over El Salvador, they eventually faced the United States in the semifinals.

Nevertheless, despite getting a penalty in the 60th minute and losing to the hosts—whose team was primarily made up of MLS players—1-0, Qatar’s campaign was cut short by a goal from Gyasi Zardes in injury time.

Qatar defeated UAE 5-0 in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup after winning all of its group stage games. They eventually finished third after losing to Algeria 2-1 in the semifinals.

The Qatar national team’s head coach is Félix Sánchez.

The 44-year-old Sanchez is currently in charge of a young Qatari team that includes members of the four-year-old AFC U-19 Asian Cup champions. In two competitions, the 23rd Gulf Cup in Kuwait and the International Friendly Tournament in Iraq, which Qatar won in March 2018, the Spaniard oversaw the national squad.
