A football stadium called Lusail Stadium or Lusail Iconic Stadium is located in Lusail, Qatar. The stadium will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup’s championship match.
After Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Education City, Ahmad Bin Ali, Al Thumama, Al Bayt, and Stadium 974, Lusail will be the eighth and final FIFA World Cup Qatar 202 event location to be announced with a capacity of 80,000.
Foster + Partners and Populous, two British architects, created the stadium’s design. The Lusail Stadium, like the other stadiums envisioned for the 2022 World Cup, will utilize solar energy for cooling and leave no carbon impact.
The Stadium’s construction was initially slated to wrap up in 2020. Three games were then scheduled until the 2022 World Cup; however, because the stadium’s construction was put off, it will now hold 10 games, including the championship.
The magnificent location will serve as the focal point of Lusail, a recently constructed, cutting-edge metropolis created with the requirements of its citizens in mind. The stadium adds a new chapter to Qatar’s history while honoring its and the region’s rich past.
Lusail Stadium obtained a five star rating for its design and construction from the GSAS on August 16, 2022, along with other stadiums built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The design of Lusail, which is appropriately futuristic, is motivated by the contrast between light and shadow that defines the fanar lantern. Intricate artistic designs on bowls and other vessels typical of the golden period of art and craftsmanship in the Arab and Islamic world are echoed in the stadium’s shape and front.
In comparison to other World Cup venues in Qatar 2022, Lusail will host ten games. It will host knockout matches in the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final in addition to the six group stage games. On November 22, the Group C match between Argentina and Saudi Arabia will be played at Lusail for the first time.
Lusail Super Cup
The Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup, a competition that will serve as a warm-up for the World Cup finals, took place between the two sides of Al Hilal, the 2021–22 Saudi Arabian champion, and Zamalek, the 2021–22 Egyptian champion, on September 9, 2022, at the Lusail stadium.
