In 1982, Cameroon took part in its first World Cup. The nation’s best showing at the world cup came in 1990, when they pulled off one of the most illustrious comeback victories from an underdog. They defeated Argentina, Romania, and Colombia en route to reaching the quarterfinals.

They were Africa’s greatest chance in 2010, but they failed to get past the group stage. Cameroon was eligible in 2014 and will be in 2022.

Defensive midfielder André Zambo Anguissa competes for both the national team of Cameroon and Serie A club Napoli.

On September 17, 2015, in the UEFA Europa League matchup against FC Groningen, he made his first team debut. He played his Ligue 1 debut against Lyon three days later.

Following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League in July 2019, he was loaned to Villarreal after moving from Marseille. On August 17, he made his Villarreal debut, playing the entire 90 minutes in a 4-4 home tie with Granada CF. On March 2017, Zambo Anguissa made his debut for the Cameroon national team against Tunisia in a 1-0 friendly victory.

Anguissa re-signed for the Championship club on August 20, 2021, and then spent the 2021–2022 campaign on loan at Napoli.

He was a member of the Indomitable Lions team, which placed third in the AFCON in 2021.

Anguissa is renowned for his toughness and aggression.
